Hobbies

Dear Parent, I am currently 29 years old and taking courses at the Harvard Extension School in preparation for application to medical school in 2013. I arrived at the decision to attend medical school somewhat circuitously (hence my age) but in the process have picked up a variety of knowledge and skills. I have significant experience with kids of all ages and can easily develop a connection. I was a summer camp counselor in my teens and later worked with troubled teens at a YMCA facility. In the Peace Corps I taught 6th grade English as a Second Language. I have a talent for understanding the source of confusion that a student is experiencing and coming up with a remedy. Often students are extremely smart, but struggle because their learning style differs from most others. I, myself, have struggled with a somewhat unique learning style and have had to compensate. In my spare time I am an avid reader of American and world history. It is important to note that I do not currently have a car. I live on the red line of the Boston T system and I am willing to travel anywhere within a reasonable walk from the T, or on a bicycle. I could also meet your son or daughter somewhere on the Harvard campus if you so choose. Best, 2LT Adam Gardner
