Experience

I have worked for the past 7 years (4 years in Georgetown, 3 years in Brookline), as a Special Education teacher for students in grades K through 5. I have worked with students with varied needs, including students with Language Based learning disabilities. I have worked closely with consultants from Landmark School and have attended many of their workshops. I am certified in the Wilson Reading System and have a great deal of experience teaching the program. I also have great experience with the Lindamood Bell programs, LiPs, which addresses decoding and spelling, and Visualizing & Verbalizing for oral expression and reading comprehension. I currently teach in Brookline but am taking a year off to stay home with my baby. I'm available for the summer or after school hours in the fall.

Hobbies

I live in Somerville with my husband, our new baby boy, and our Wheaten Terrier, Maisy. We love to spend weekends with our families who all live close by, on the North Shore. My family moved from Ireland shortly after I was born, so all of my extended family is still there. I love to travel to Ireland and visit them whenever I can! I love my job as a teacher, and I love kids! I love to make learning fun and use my sense of humor to relate with children and build relationships with them. I strive to help children feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes, and want to help them to recognize and feel proud of their own progress!
