I graduated from Drew University with a bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Classics and a concentration on modern American authors and creative writing. During my undergraduate education, I served as a mentor to inner city high schoolers and also as a tutor in the university's writing center, where I assisted students with improving their writing. I was a participant in the annual International Writing Center Association conference during my senior year, and delivered a lecture on tutoring techniques and adjustments required when tutoring ESL students. I am able to work with students at any level in topics including reading, writing, editing, phonics, literature, grammar, public speaking, and I have extensive experience in working with ESL and ELL students. I am passionate about the written word, and enjoy helping students improve their fluency and communications skills by helping them establish a solid fundamental foundation. I enjoy learning about each of my students' preferred learning styles and personal interests in order to create an individualized learning plan and foster a positive learning environment. As a tutor, I encourage my students to read their work aloud and ask lots of questions. I find it greatly rewarding to help my students discover their voices.
