Josh M.
Private tutor in Somerville, MA
Education
I was an Applied Physics major at Northeastern University. I am a seasoned tutor with thousands of hours of experience. My philosophy is that sometimes learning should be hard, but why not make it as easy as possible most of the time? Once you master the basics, you should be confronted with challenge problems that force you to think creatively and outside the box.
Experience
I have thousands of hours of tutoring experience. Tutor is both challenging and rewarding, which is why I love it. I'm interested in how we can support the next generation of scientists, doctors, engineers, and designers to solve pressing problems. I specifically believe the core competency in all of these disciplines is creative problem solving, and I actively encourage students to develop these capacities, especially through custom-tailored challenge problems that are designed to get them to think in less structured contexts. I also love working with kids who are challenged in one way or another. I've taken a wide variety of undergraduate physics, math, and engineering courses. I've done material science research and published in an academic journal.
