ExperienceMy academic background is an undergraduate degree in Business and English Literature from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, and a graduate degree in Teaching from Brandeis. I have tutored students to help them prepare for the SAT and for English as a Second Language. I have also tutored as a student teacher in an elementary school. My tutoring philosophy is grounded in ensuring that instruction is personalized and that the learning plan is well rounded. I also believe it is vitally important to involve the child's parents and other key adults in their life in the process. This team approach aids in reaching the goals. Another key aspect of my approach is for students to take ownership of their learning. When they achieve success and make progress, they are motivated to continue. Although I have passion for all subjects I tutor, my strong suits are working with children from kindergarten to grade 12 to improve their literacy skills for reading and writing. I care about my students' interests and believe access to a quality education should be a priority. Outside of teaching, I like to hike, read, and explore the Mass Audubon Reservations. When winter comes, I like to ski.
